How Successful Businesses Lights Up A Bulb


Have you been dreaming to start your own company? Is it has long been in your bucket   list? If you are currently planning to start up your own business but finding it hard to generate an idea, you are in the right track. Have you ever seen in animated movie whenever a person gets an idea it’s like a light bulb light up on their head, guess that doesn’t happen in real life. But the point is how do businesses actually gets an idea to start and come up with a business idea. Well, let’s look at some entrepreneurs ideas generation or specific inspiration that trigger the idea. This confessions are from (Success Story, 2017).

Chad Hurley and Steve Chen, YouTube:

“In January 2005 Chen hosted a party for his friends at his home and Chad Hurley was one of the guests. Both Chen and Hurley recorded the party on camcorder and digital camera, but could not send the recordings to their friends and guests because of the massive file size. It was then the two came up with the idea of creating site to help people share videos.”


Phil Knight, Nike:

“Phil Knight was a middle distance runner hailing from Portland who trained under track and field coach Bill Bowerman. Bill Bowerman was looking ways to enhance his students’ performance and tried improving their shoes in his free time.” Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman founded Blue Ribbon Sports in 1964 which is now famously known as Nike.


Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph, Netflix:

“Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph founded Netflix in 1997 as both of them were technology enthusiast who had previously experience of setting up websites and running them successfully. The idea of Netflix arises simply for the convenient of people to buy and rent DVD’s sitting at their homes.”


Travis Kalanick and Garrett Camp, Uber:

“The company was born out of a situation Kalanick faced while in Paris in which he was unable to find a taxi to get to a conference. Realizing that this was an issue faced by countless travelers around the world, the duo decided to launch Uber Cabs.”


From all the above examples it can easily be identified that the business in nature is problem solving. It aims to solve a problem. Entrepreneurship is all about finding a solution and make it works. Things people are frustrated and dissatisfied may lay as a business opportunity, so if your idea can really improve people’s lives and solve their problems, capitalize the business idea and you may end up another giant business emperor like Amazon, Alibaba and Facebook. Spend a portion of time to think of what are the problem people facing, in what sense we can improve their lives. The key is to keep practicing so that you can master the business idea generating skills. As long as people keep facing problems and difficulty there is always business opportunity.
