Let’s
start off with my intention of not choosing business as my majoring subject. I
was very keen into entering Account and Finance but I had a major mind set
change during my Foundation Study. From a pure science student in high school
who knew nothing about business, to taking up extra subject which is Accounting
and end up in a college offering mostly business subject although they do have
an Accounting and Finance course. During the selection of degree courses, I was
indecisive but decided that business would be a safer and secure course which I
will never regret but I won’t deny the roller coaster ride of the journey
during my undergraduate study.
Looking
at my other friends from different courses, always having fun and hanging out
with their group of friends. While I am busy holding up a pile of assignments and
coursework that needs to be done. It wasn’t a pleasant sight and undeniable involve a
whole lot of swearing and cursing at the subject or even at myself for making a
stupid mistake. While doing my coursework, which involve me mostly
contemplating why does this course has so many things to be done, why is our passing
grades much higher than the other courses fully equipped my mind.
Going
towards Semester 4 was the turning point of my perception of business course,
realizing it actually wasn’t that bad at all. Hell, it involves a lot of
learning new stuff about business that I will never ever get to know anywhere
and a whole lot of fun. Coursework includes mostly creating new business plan
or analyzing current business plan in the real world. We even get to observe
the business and interviewing the managers to get more insight and personally I think that was the most fun part. I get to walk around Tesco and my friends get to
sit in McDonald or even Nando’s for hours, it was really cool. Now I can
proudly say I have look into many industry including fashion, pub/bar,
restaurant, cafe, retail, music and many more thanks to all the coursework I’ve
done and the knowledge that I’ve gained worth more than anything.
Those
little things so called business instinct will definitely develop, and you will start to look at things in business perspective. Mostly involve me judging and
commenting those shop lots , restaurant or cafe that I’ve passed by and
questioning their promotion strategy, their location, their brand name or even
their services. The most worthy thing is that I’ve known all the so called
promotion strategy that intent to attract customers but hey you can’t lie to a
business student.
The
reality is that taking up business course sort of give you a foundation to do
things you wish to do when you’re starting something in your life. If you
love baking, business will help you build a bakery shop. Or if you love playing
music, business will help you build a music store or even music class and
learning how to tackle the current world. Of course there are ups and downs, and
if anyone ever told you that business course is easy to go through. Dude, that
person needs a lecturing. It’s fine if you actually chose business if you feel
its safer, well you are in it for a ride but trust me you’ll come out all fresh,
squeaky and clean of business bubbles.
